Dance Dance Revolution Extreme Pro

Organizer: David Seltzer
Entry Fee: $10
Split: 50/30/15/5

Rules:

Qualifying:

The qualifier will be randomly selected on Friday from one of the following 5 songs (Songs will be announced one month prior to tournament date):

One song from each group will be chosen by random the day of qualifying. Seed will be based on cumulative EX Score. If there are any ties, a second song will be chosen by random from Group A and the player with the highest EX Score will be given highest seed of those who are tied.

Players will be allowed one warm up song prior to playing the qualifier. Players will be seeded by total EX score on the qualifier. In the event of a tie on EX score, a random tiebreaker will be selected from the remaining list of qualifying songs (ranging from 8-10). If players who tied are unable to play the tiebreaker, then the person who qualified first will be awarded the higher seed and so on.

Play Rules:
This tournament will be held using a full double elimination bracket.

Each match will be played using the Card Draw system. For all matches leading up to semi-finals, 5 songs will be randomly chosen from the song pack. Both players will have the opportunity to remove 1 song and protect 1 song. The 3 songs remaining will be played in order from how they were randomized unless BOTH players agree on a new song order. If both players do not agree, then it will be played in the order the card draw shows.

The higher seed will have the choice of the following 3 options: Choice of Pad Side (Left or Right), Choice of Song Removal (1st or 2nd), or Choice of Song Protection. Lower seed will get the 2nd choice, and the remaining 3rd option reverts back to the higher seed. The first player to win 2 songs will move on to the next round.

For Semifinals up until Grand Finals, 7 songs will be randomly chosen. Both players will have the opportunity to remove 1 song and protect 1 just as before. The remaining 5 songs will be played from in order from how they were randomized unless BOTH players agree on a new song order.

The first player to win 3 songs will move on to the next round.

Grand Finals for Extreme Pro will be played using Match Rules with players choosing their own song picks. The same song cannot be played twice in the match. Players will be able to choose up to 5 songs each before additional songs are card drawn. In the event of time constraints, this will be lowered to 3 songs each, but may be altered to be best of 5 card draw format depending on overall time left when the Grand Finals occur.

Alternate Match Rules (Due to Time Constraints):
Grand Finals will be played in best of 5 Card Draw Format.

For Grand Finals, the first player to reach 3 songs will be the victor. If the player who reaches 3 songs first is the player coming from the Losers’ bracket, the bracket will be reset and both players will play a second set of separate songs. The player of this set will be crowned winner.

All pad arbitration will be handled at the discretion of the coordinator.

RANDOM/TIE BREAKING SONGS -

If neither player has won 2 (or 3) songs by the end of their set, a tie breaking song will be chosen via Machine Random. However, if the random selected falls below the level cap for the round, a new random will be chosen.

Assuming a 64 man bracket, the following is the range of difficulty options on Heavy and Challenge charts that will be eligible for random songs for their respective rounds:

Levels Cap:
Round 1: 6-9 footer
Round 2: 7-9 footer
Round 3: 7-10 footer
Round 4+: 8-10 footer

All mods are allowed as long as they do not change the EX total of the song (cut, freezes off, etc). All speed mods (1x, 2x, etc.) turn mods (left, mirror, etc.) and appearance mods (sudden, hidden, etc.) are allowed. Solo can be used only if both players agree upon it.

Note: Number of rounds, songs, or otherwise may be modified pending total number of tournament entrants to ensure tournament runs on schedule.

Please note, all rules are subject to change as the event grows closer. Please continue to check back to this page for changes.
